“QUALITY CARE AND EDUCATION” We believe that all children are individuals with their own abilities and talents. We advocate our defining statement “a Kid’s comfort zone” and endeavour to create an atmosphere in which the children feel comfortable secure and happy whilst catering to each child’s unique needs and interests. We understand that in order to make both children and their parents feel comfortable, we must provide a welcoming, secure, safe and well-supervised centre at all times. We believe that each child’s development is unique and opportunities must be provided for the child to grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, creatively and spiritually. This is achieved through a balance of stimulation and nurturing. We recognise the early years are the most important formative years of a child’s life and endeavour to provide an environment and educational programs which reflects this. We understand children are active seekers of knowledge with a natural curiosity to learn about themselves, their surrounding environment and community. We understand the best way for a child to learn is through discovery, and this is best achieved by providing ample opportunities for extended play. Our programming is flexible as it is based upon individual needs and interests and each child is allowed to develop at their own pace. Our programs aid in the development of skills, abilities and attitudes which lay the foundation of learning. This will be achieved by ensuring we as carers, use our knowledge and understanding of children and child development to implement goals set from our Auz life curriculum. We acknowledge and respect the diversity of cultures and people who make up our community. We understand that within our culturally diverse society, all people have the fundamental right to have differing opinions, attitudes, life-styles and customs. We therefore endeavour to respect all of these differences and provide care accordingly. We believe staff are important and we need to unite in our goals for children and their families by working together as a team to provide a welcoming and nurturing environment. We understand that as carers, we all have differing philosophies, attitudes, values and life-styles. We shall, however, strive to communicate with one another in order to provide the best team possible to care for your children. We believe continuous professional development is important in providing quality early childhood education and care, we therefore encourage staff to continually strive for improved practices leading to high quality care. Day Care of Auz advocates equity of opportunity, access, treatment and outcomes in relation to quality education and care. We believe that a child’s opportunities to explore the environment should not be limited by ability, culture or gender-based stereotypes, therefore all activities are offered to all children with respect to family’s culture, beliefs and values. We aim to respect the special relationship between children and their families, and therefore incorporate a parental perspective when interacting with children. We aim to support parents in their role through obtaining professional advice and guidance. We endevour to develop positive relationships with families through open communication and encouraging parents to talk through any grievance or concern theymay have. We welcome and encourage parent participation in all aspects of our programs. We recognise Early Childhood as a unique and valuable stage of life and accept that each phase within a child’s development is important in its own right. |
